This looks like one of our known bugs in the current beta release, where if the light is currently a "white" mode (warm white, daylight, cool white), this is not reflected in the light mode selector when you reopen it later.

It's indeed a little confusing and frustrating, but the good news is that this bug is fixed and should be resolved in our next beta release, which is due soon! :)
